  1. Cindy, it was great interview. I really liked where she said “Game on” (or something like that) for writers wanting to pitch to her at conferences. I met her in Green Bay the year before last — I picked her up at the airport. I didn’t pitch to her, but I had a pitching appt. later in the conference, so thought I’d save my pitch for then.

I’ll post about the interviews on a couple of groups that I belong to.

  2. Thanks for posting about the interviews, Edie!

I think you were right to save your pitch for your appointment, seeing as you had one. I think the main point to keep in mind about pitching outside an appointment is to make sure the agent is really prepared to hear a pitch. This can be tricky!

An agent sat beside me at an Awards thingie once (not the RITA/GH). Once I realized who she was, I did not try to pitch to her, because she had sat at my table because another agent, a friend of hers, I surmise, was there. They quickly engaged in conversation. However, at one point, she asked me what I wrote and I gave a quick, half-sentence encapsulation. 🙂 It wasn’t the right time for even an elevator pitch, IMO, as every minute another winner was being announced and we had to clap, etc. Plus, the other agent really seemed to want to keep talking to her.
