Baja-Ha-Ha-Ha

One of the reasons it took me so long to get set up with a new computer recently is that my old one kicked the bucket three days before I left for a week in sunny Mexico. I wasn’t ready to accept that it needed replacing, so I sent it to the computer shop while I was gone. Upon my return, I discovered, yep, it was time for ol’ Delbert to retire, and at that point I needed to research and then shop for a replacement. So while you were all feeling sorry for me, I was actually relaxing (and trying very hard NOT to think about the computer). I didn’t take any work with me, because I planned to catch up upon my return. Ha-ha, joke on me!

Anyway, that’s my convoluted way of explaining why I’m so late sharing some photos with you. But here they finally are!

“She Who Gave Me Life” walking the beach. That’s a fresh water estuary on the left and the Sea of Cortez on the right.

I scared the birds at the estuary trying to sneak up on the egret in the foreground.

Dive-bombing pelican. I followed him with my camera for at least ten frames. This was the shot right before he landed in the water.

The elusive Mr. Egret.

More tomorrow!

  1. Beautiful pictures! I want to be there.

I got a new computer for Christmas, and my husband has my old one. I love my new one. So much faster.

  2. Thanks, Tonya and Edie. Tonya, it’s rare that I go away in the winter. This was my first winter break in 13 years. Now I know why people look forward to them so much, LOL. Even “just” a week away is a welcome break.

Edie, I agree, my new computer is so much faster it’s almost scary. I also got a Netbook. It has Windows 7 Starter edition and is much slower to start up. It starts up more like my old XP desktop. This new Windows 7 desktop loads very quickly. I love new processors. 🙂

My old desktop was a workhorse for 5 years. He deserves his retirement!

  3. I need to buy a mouse for it, Teresea. I use a big ergonomic keyboard with my desktop so it’s hard for me to get used to a touchpad and the small keyboard. I think once I have a mouse I’ll feel more at home.

  4. Sean’s resisting that urge so far, but I know when I use his mini, I don’t like the touchpad much. Even the one on my laptop annoys me.

It took me a LONG time to get used to this keyboard after my ergonomic one. One of these days I’m hoping to just hook that keyboard right into my laptop…my printer isn’t a USB one though, which is a pain.

Sorry for the rambling…. Hope you find a mouse you like 🙂

  5. Teresa, my dh has a docking station at home for his very, very old laptop. We had a spare monitor, so he bought a wireless mouse and keyboard – those connect to the docking station or the laptop through USB (I can’t remember where it connects). The monitor connects through the docking station, I think. This way he can use a normal sized keyboard and still have the small laptop (his is 13 inches) for portability.

I have an old AlphaSmart, so I figure if I can get used to that, I can get used to the netbook keyboard. The keys are pretty big. It’s just the touch pad that bugs me. I’ve never managed to get used to them because I don’t use one everyday.
