No sooner do I post an interview with agent Kevan Lyon on my Articles page than she opens her own agency! From Publishers Lunch:
Agents Jill Marsal and Kevan Lyon have left the Sandra Dijkstra Agency to form the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency. Marsal was at the Dijkstra agency for eight years and practiced as an attorney representing authors prior to that. Lyon spent four years at Dijkstra and worked in the wholesale and distribution side of the publishing business for over 17 years before becoming an agent.
Being the resourceful sort that I am, however, I’ve already been in contact with Ms. Lyon and will update the interview this weekend. I’ll post here next week when it’s up.
I saw that! Very interesting.
Good morning, Edie. Phew, your comment didn’t go to moderation. Yesterday, at least 80% of them did. Yours didn’t go to moderation yesterday either, so maybe I shouldn’t get too excited. Don’t know what happened yesterday.
Wow, great news 🙂 I’m just hoping they’ll accept email queries. Soooo much easier from this side of the border (as you well know).
Thanks for the tip!
Hi Teresa. Great to hear from you again! How are the studies going?
Yes, the new agency will accept e-queries. That’s one of the portions of the interview being updated. I’ll update the interview Saturday or Sunday, so keep checking my Articles page. I have a guest blogger coming on Tuesday, so Monday will comprise her promo post. Wednesday, I’ll provide a link here to the updated Kevan Lyon interview, unless something else tres exciting happens. But I will announce the link here sometime next week.
They’re building a website, but it isn’t open yet. The URL will go into the updated interview as well.
I really like Kevan. She is ultra-responsive, and I am thrilled she’s agreed to update the interview.
Thanks for the update, Cindy. Interesting how the industry changes so quickly… Hope you have a great weekend!!
You, too, Marilyn!
Hi Cindy,
School is going well, but certainly is keeping me busy!! Between that and work, Sean is lucky to get meals on the table most nights *g*.
I’ll look for the updated interview. Cool she was willing to do it so quickly and even cooler she’ll be accepting e-queries!
Teresa
Hhmmm, Teresa, please don’t let on to my husband that most of them DO get meals on the table most nights… Cooking is not my thing. 🙂
I agree that it’s excellent Kevan will be doing e-queries. It makes things so much faster and, from what I’ve seen, is quickly becoming the standard with agents.
I’ll try to get the changes up tomorrow.
