Les Fleurs

I’m finding it really hard to get used to My Liege taking nearly every Monday off work. It shortens my week!

I’m brainstorming a new story for Penny. Pretty much have a title, maybe a setting, and maybe some character names. Oh, and a theme. Or plot. Whatever you choose to call it. Let’s just say it has something to do with the number 3.

Seeing as my mind is otherwise occupied, I thought I’d take this opportunity to share some of my flower pics. These are from my mother’s garden, taken 3 (there’s that number again) or so weeks ago. Enjoy!

Dying Tulips

“Dying Tulips”

Don’t you love the feathery edges? (They were feathery before the tulips began their descent into oblivion).

Tiger, Tiger

“Tiger, Tiger”

That bud thing looks like it’s pushing the tiger.  If I were the tiger, I’d snap its head off. This is why I’m not a flower. Too violent.

Bee-Have

“Bee-Have!”

I believe this is called an Onion Flower. All I care is that it’s purple and spiky, and that my monster zoom lens allowed me to capture the bee.

I'm irritated because my posts won't publish.

  1. Beautiful photos! My husband is off on Fridays, so I know what you mean about it shortening the work week.

  2. LOVE the photos – they’re gorgeous flowers 🙂 So that’s a zoom lens and not the macro feature (can you tell I’m still new to anything BUT a point and shoot camera? *g*)

  3. Hi Teresa,

Yes, it’s a 300mm zoom lens that I received at Christmas with my new camera. I always forget to use macro thingies with my regular lens. I love me a powerful zoom lens.

I still have to learn how to use the multiple clicky feature on my camera, though. Haven’t had time to read the booklet. My niece has a similar camera. I’ll wait until the next family party and then ask her.

  4. Nice photos. I haven’t done much close-up snapping yet this year.

There is a proper name for the “Onion flower”, but I can’t remember it off hand. It is indeed closely related to the onion. In fact, ours will sometimes give off an onion smell.

In theory, when planted near things should reduce some pests, like aphids…… Which might explain why some of my roses have them and others don’t. Oh, and garlic around roses will prevent (reduce) aphids too.
