I’ve updated my interview with agent Kevan Lyon to reflect the opening of the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency with Jill Marsal, both formerly of Sandra Dijkstra.
Their new website is now open, and they are taking electronic queries—always a plus.

May the queries begin.
Good luck, everyone. And thank you to Ms. Lyon for graciously agreeing to update the interview. My best wishes for the new agency’s success!
I won’t query, but thanks for the update. Maybe in the future … LOL
Whaddya mean, *I* say to query and you don’t? What do I need around here, a whip? 🙂
I WANT to query, but am worried about time right now and trying to figure out what’s wrong with my query letter as it never seems to get me anywhere, even though in the past, I’ve had requests. Grrrr.
Hi Teresa,
There might be nothing wrong with your query letter. I know a lot of published authors who are having difficulty getting to the full request stage with agents these days, so it must be even tougher out there for unpubs. See if you can find a couple of people to take a look at it for you, though. A fresh pair of eyes might help.
To add to my comment above, publishing credentials might get you past the query stage to reading of partials, but after that…wow, it’s tough out there right there. I know writers who had better luck with agents while they were unpubs a few years ago than they’re having now.
